Non-Standard Contract Clauses: Can You Afford to Ignore Them?

The Alberta Construction Association (ACA) is hosting in partnership with the Edmonton Construction Association (ECA) Oct 12th and Red Deer Construction Association (RDCA) Oct 23rd Workshops on Non-Standard Contract Clauses.

What is the Workshop About?

The Workshop will help you gain an understanding of the meaning of non-standard contract clauses, and explore the risks contractors are assuming and the consequent considerations when bidding.

Mixed sector participant groups (General Contractors, Subcontractors, Insurance Specialists and Lawyers) will review and present their discussions on six common non-standard clauses.  To determine financial implications of these and other clauses, the groups will be given a mock project that is typical of some of the projects being tendered.  All groups will be tasked to submit bids based on the information provided and present their rational for pricing.

Why Attend?

The results arising from this Workshop will assist you to reduce your risks in responding to tenders containing non-standard terms. Your input will also assist ACA and Local Construction Associations to advocate on behalf of the industry with Project Owners provincially and regionally.
