AAIT Board Seeking New Employer Members

The Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board (board) is looking for a new board member to represent employers in the designated trades and who will make a positive impact on the future of Alberta’s diverse skilled trades workforce.

As a stakeholder with a strong tie to apprenticeship training, you may know of individuals who would be excellent candidates for board membership.  We are requesting your assistance in spreading the word about this opportunity to these individuals as well as to your membership or the membership of your constituent organizations.

The FAQ document indicates the overall functions of the board, the duties of its members, and the criteria used to select qualified people.

Selection of board members is based both on the knowledge and experience of individual applicants, and on maintaining a balanced representation so that the board reflects the diversity of the apprenticeship and industry training system to the best extent possible. An employer in industry either owns, operates or holds a management position in a business that employs journeypersons, hires and trains apprentices or has significant influence/final authority on hiring and longer term employment of journeypersons and apprentices engaged by the business.

All opportunities for positions on Government of Alberta public agencies, boards and commissions are available publicly on the Public Agency Secretariat website.  A direct link to the position posting for the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board is:

Candidates who are interested in applying for a position on the board must submit their application online as well as provide letters of reference from industry.  The closing date for this competition is October 18, 2018.
