Learn the New Rules on Alberta Employment Standards
More details on impending changes to Alberta’s Employment Standards are available since ACA first alerted members in June 2017. Please note that, despite a review for accuracy by Alberta Labour prior to publication, ACA’s June 2017 article contained an error. While it stated correctly that special regulations for the industry were not changing, an error was missed in the examples provided that incorrectly included banked overtime as one of the standards for which construction had special rules. In fact, the construction sector does not have special rules for overtime banking and so the changes made through the Fair and Family-friendly Workplaces Act to banked overtime will apply to the construction industry.
