Calgary Construction Association is Seeking a New President and COO

Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with the Calgary Construction Association in their search for a President & Chief Operating Officer. Founded in 1944, the CCA is a non-profit voluntary membership association which is involved in the fostering and advancement of the interests of those who are engaged in, or who are connected with the institutional, commercial, industrial (ICI) sectors of the construction industry in Calgary and the surrounding area. The CCA promotes excellence in the construction of buildings with its core values being to create opportunities, deliver the best leading edge services and be an effective voice for the local construction industry. The Calgary Construction Association represents over 800 member companies.

As the President and COO, you will report directly to the Chair. You will be responsible for liaising with the association members, affiliated associations, and wider construction community and build solid relationships to ensure the organization provides an excellent membership experience. The role will also involve supervising all external communications as well as working collaboratively with the Chair and employees on media and PR strategies and initiatives with the objective of promoting the CCA. You will, along with the Treasurer, oversee all financial statements and investments as well as manage operations within the CCA’s annual budget. A big part of the position will involve developing, implementing and overseeing new initiatives, as set out by the Board, including educational training and policies. Additionally, all operations of the Calgary Construction Association as well as all matters pertinent to association employees will be a responsibility of this position.

The successful candidate will have post-secondary education along with experience at an executive level sitting on or reporting into a Board, as well as experience with government relations. Previous experience working for a not for profit association or some construction related experience is preferred. You will have a strong background in developing long-term relationships and be a customer-focused individual. It is important that the CCA find a strategic leader with proven experience in an innovative and forward-thinking organization. You will have excellent communication and people skills that enable you to deal with the media, executive level individuals as well as the Board and be a self-motivated, collaborative person who will represent the association and its members to the highest standard.
