Prompt Payment Committee Establishes First Steps

Stakeholders from all parts of industry met on August 19 to discuss the best steps forward for Prompt Payment in Alberta.  Alberta Construction Association Chair Dave Kinley led the discussions pushing forward an agenda to bring forward prompt payment best practice.

The general view of those in attendance was that the roundtable was considered very productive in creating the momentum to carry forward beyond the first meeting. While these were early steps, many went away feeling more informed and positive.

The focus of the committee initially is to establish a best practice which can be used to help owners, general contractors, and sub-contractors meet prompt payment needs for all. The ad hoc committee will go forward with more discussions in the future with a best practice to be published in due course.
