aceBIM Selected as Contributing Author to buildingSMART Canada Practice Manuals
aceBIM is pleased to announce its acceptance of the invitation from buildingSMART Canada to coordinate development of two chapters in two planned volumes of bSC practice manuals.
buildingSMART Canada, the Canadian chapter of buildingSMART International, has been established to provide the appropriate body and home for Canadian BIM Standards Development through participation in the development of international BIM standards as the voice of the Canadian marketplace and to promote the awareness of buildingSMART International (bSI) within Canada.
Initiated and run by the Institute for BIM in Canada (IBC), both IBC and bSC share the common goal of supporting the implementation of BIM in a way and at a pace that enables industry to successfully achieve improvements in project delivery and lifecycle management of the built environment, including infrastructure. Having a Canadian guide to BIM, i.e. a Practice Manual, for the entire industry as a source of consistent terminology and processes is thus a key element in completing bSC’s mandate.
The Alberta Centre of Excellence for Building Information Modelling (aceBIM) and Institute for BIM in Canada (IBC) / buildingSMART Canada (bSC) share interests in consistent national BIM approach bringing value to all stakeholders.
Jeff Duffield, aceBIM Chairman, noted “This partnership fits aceBIM’s vision to inspire, enable, and support a more productive Alberta industry by connecting Alberta firms to national and international standards and practices”.
aceBIM Vice-Chair and coordinator of the aceBIM contribution, Dan Doherty, adds: “This project provides an opportunity for Alberta practitioners to help shape national practices.”
